McDonald’s Congratulates Ronald McDonald House Charities on its Latest House Opening in Kobe, Japan
May 02, 2016 Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) continues its journey in #keepingfamiliesclose by opening Ronald McDonald House number 357 this week in Kobe, Japan.
The Kobe House is the 11th Ronald McDonald House of RMHC Japan. Since the Charity’s establishment in that country in 1999 the Houses have helped families with sick children stay close to each other and the medical treatment they need.
The newest 13,000 square foot home in Kobe includes 16 bedrooms, a kitchen, dining area, and laundry room. This House is adjacent to the Hyogo Prefectural Kobe Children’s Hospital.
Started with one small House in Philadelphia in 1974, RMHC has grown into a network of Houses and other programs that provide families stability and resources they need to help their children thrive. Today, RMHC serves over 15,000 children and their families each day, totaling nearly 6 million children and families annually, in more than 63 countries and regions.
Research shows that the House program helps to reduce stress and financial burden, as well as strengthens the coping abilities of families caring for their sick child. Collectively the services of RMHC save families more than $700 million in meal and lodging costs annually.
As the founding mission partner of RMHC, McDonald’s supports the Charity through a variety of ways including annual fundraisers and providing the space in restaurants around the world for RMHC Donation Boxes to encourage customers visiting the stores to make a contribution to RMHC and its network of local Chapters.
