OAK BROOK, IL--(Marketwire - May 31, 2011) - McDonald's Corporation (NYSE: MCD) announced today that Bridget Coffing, currently Vice President of Global External Communications, has been promoted to Senior Vice President of McDonald's Corporate Relations.

In her new role, Coffing will be the chief communications officer for McDonald's and will oversee corporate functions including media relations, marketing communications, public relations, corporate social responsibility, internal communications and government relations.

"The communications landscape is rapidly changing, and I'm honored to lead McDonald's continued efforts to connect with our customers, employees, stakeholders, and the media in creative and innovative ways," Coffing said. "Our talented teams around the world are passionate about our role in serving our customers and helping to move the Brand forward."

Coffing's promotion reflects McDonald's solid succession planning process and its deep bench of talented leaders aligned around the company's Plan to Win. She fills the position previously held by Jack Daly, who passed away in February. Coffing will report to McDonald's Chief Executive Officer Jim Skinner.

"The way we communicate about our Brand and the work we do in social responsibility are crucial in earning trust," Skinner said. "Bridget is the ideal leader to help shape our strategic Brand communications and to strengthen our efforts to make a difference as a corporate citizen."

A 25-year veteran of McDonald's, Coffing will lead a global team of company communicators to invigorate dialogue with customers, employees, international media, stakeholders, and the NGO community. As head of the public relations function, she has developed communications strategies and initiatives to reinforce McDonald's commitment to children's well-being, Ronald McDonald House Charities, marketing leadership, sports and entertainment alliances, global field communications, and worldwide consumer brand activities including McDonald's FIFA World Cup and Olympic Games sponsorships.

Coffing joined McDonald's in 1985 from Golin/Harris Communications, where she specialized in food and consumer marketing. She previously worked in the advertising and retail promotion industry.

McDonald's is the world's leading global foodservice retailer with more than 32,000 locations serving 60 million customers in more than 100 countries each day.
