Environmental Defense Fund Commends McDonald's Environmental Efforts in Wall Street Journal
Environmental Defense Fund and McDonald’s first partnered nearly three decades ago to eliminate our foam-based clamshell packaging and we’re still working together to solve environmental problems with a market-based approach. On March 20, the same day McDonald’s announced that it was the first restaurant company in the world to set an approved Science Based Target to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, EDF’s President Fred Krupp nodded to that 1990 alliance and heralded the next stage of environmental progress in a Wall Street Journal op-ed.
“Call it the Fourth Wave of environmental progress: Innovation that gives people the power to scale solutions as never before, supercharging the work of the previous waves,” Krupp wrote, citing technologies such as sensors and mapping applications, as well as multi-stakeholder partnerships across companies, academic institutions and NGOs that make environmental challenges visible, measurable and actionable.
