Lucy Ospitia Wins "Voice of McDonald's" Global Singing CompetitionORLANDO, Fla., ( May 2, 2014) – Last night, Lucy Ospitia, a McDonald's crew member from Bucaramanga, Colombia, and an employee of developmental licensee Arcos Dorados, wowed a crowd of more than 15,000 audience members in front of a panel of celebrity judges and rocked the stage with a powerful performance of “Por Ti Volare” to take top honors in the Voice of McDonald's global singing competition at the company’s biennial global convention. In addition, the audience witnessed incredible performances from second place winner Rocky Rosabal from Balingoan, Philippines, third place winner Ashlaé Nelms from Lawrenceville, Illinois, and fourth place winner Patrick Reis from Geneva, Switzerland.

A panel of internationally-renowned music and entertainment industry professionals judged the semi-final and final competitions, and helped mentor and provide vocal coaching along the way. The final competition judges consisted of David Foster, multi-platinum, Grammy Award winning music producer and composer; Ken Hertz, prominent entertainment attorney and brand marketing strategist; and Skylar Grey, Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter. 

As the Voice of McDonald's grand prize winner, Lucy Ospitia receives $25,000, Rocky Rosabal receives $17,500 for second prize, third prize winner Ashlaé Nelms receives $12,500, fourth prize winner Patrick Reis receives $7,500, and all other contestants win $3,000. Additionally, all 16 semi-finalists collect $500 for a celebration party with co-workers and $1,000 will be donated in their names for their local Ronald McDonald House Charities or other children's charity.

Supplemented by stellar backup musicians and singers, the top four contestants poured their hearts and souls into their final performances for the owners/operators, suppliers and company employees attending McDonald's 2014 Worldwide Convention.

"I’m amazed at the level of talent I saw in all of these McDonald’s employees," said Foster. "It’s been fun to watch them and see their confidence grow.”

The Voice of McDonald's is a worldwide contest that seeks to identify and acknowledge the most talented singers among the approximately 1.8 million restaurant employees in the McDonald's system of corporate-owned and independently owned and operated restaurants. This fifth edition of the competition started with an initial field of more than 58,000 entries, representing 63 countries, before the field narrowed to just 16 semi-finalists.
